Five Things to Look For in a Stroller

If you are deciding on a stroller for your baby, there are a few things to look for. If you have the money, then you should go all out. The nicer the stroller, the happier you will be. Good strollers also result in you not having to pay to replace it. If this is your first baby and you are trying to decide on a stroller, there are certain things to look for.

The first thing is that your stroller should have removable and washable cloth on it. Your baby is going to throw up, spit up and spill stuff all over your stroller. It is inevitable. Getting a stroller that has removable fabric is a must. You want to make sure that it can be removed easily too. You will be washing it more than you want to.

Another important thing to look for in a stroller is its collapsibility. You want one that is easy to maneuver and can collapse quickly. The last thing you want to be doing is standing in the rain and fighting your stroller. When you are shopping for your stroller, ask the store clerks to show you how to collapse it and open it back up. If it is not as simple as pressing one button, move on.

Storage is a must. You want a stroller that has an area that you can put things in. If you are in the mall, you do not want to have to carry a diaper bag, a purse and your shopping bags.

Another must for your stroller is a canopy. A lot of moms forget that they are going to have their baby in rain and snow. Sometimes it can't be helped. A canopy protects them as you are getting to your car.

Throwing a jacket over them just may not work!!!

The final thing that you should look for in a stroller is its adjustability. Your child will grow and if you do not have a stroller that will grow with them, then you are just going to end up buying another one. Strollers can be lifesavers at times. Make sure you buy one that is worth your money and time.

6 Easy Steps to Traveling Alone With Toddlers and Strollers

Have you ever thought to yourself, I am about to travel by myself with a toddler and an infant. Am I crazy???

I've asked myself that many, many times but somehow it all works out. Here are a few steps that will help to ease your worries.

1. Prepare all travel documents and place them in an "easy to reach" area of your carry-on bag.

Your travel documents such as confirmation numbers, IDs or passports, Hotel and car information, etc. should be kept together and placed in a pocket where you can easily have access to it with one hand.

2. If traveling with a stroller AND a carseat, keep everything on the stroller to allow you to easily maneuver through the airport terminal.

Your infant should remain strapped in his carseat and bags hung on the handle so that you have a free hand to hold on to your toddler. Or if you have a double stroller, that would be additionally helpful.

3. While in line at the security check point, have all tickets and your ID out and ready for the agent to review. After they're done, promptly slip your ID into an accessible pocket.

If possible, travel with a bag/purse that have "handy dandy" outside pockets to easily slip your ID, baggage tags or anything small of that nature. This will save you the hassle and time of pulling out your wallet to put everything away while everyone else behind you impatiently wait their turn.

4. Have your toddler remove her shoes and place it in the bin (if possible, have her wear socks with her shoes/sandals so that she doesn't have to walk on the dirty floor. Have her wait at your side until you are ready to go through the metal detector. Take off your shoes and place it in the same bin and place all bags from the stroller to the conveyer belt. Unhook the carseat with the infant and set on the table. Fold stroller and place on belt. Take your infant out of the car seat and place car seat on belt. Walk through detector with infant and toddler handing over tickets to the TSA agent.

5. On the other side of the security check point, place your infant in the carseat and strap him in. Open the stroller and place the carseat in the stroller. You'll want to keep the stroller with you until you get to the gate where you will receive a gate-check. Collect the rest of your belongings including your shoes and head to the gate.

That's it! You successfully passed through security and scanned your belongings by yourself with your two children.

Baby Strollers - Are You Overlooking the Most Important Factor

Unlike the past, today's parents are fortunate to have a much broader selection of baby strollers available to them. There are multiple styles from which to choose. Strollers are available in a multitude of colors, and with an assortment of features. Whether you have an infant or toddler, one child or several children, there is a stroller made with you in mind. With all of the choices now available, parents shopping for a baby stroller quickly fall into feature comparisons and overlook one, very important factor: their lifestyles.

Today's active lifestyles and hectic schedules demand more variety than ever before, and stroller manufacturers have answered the call with a plethora of styles. From the styles of the turn of the century to the modern athletic trend, there are many types of baby strollers:

* traditional baby prams, similar to the bassinet style baby carriage in which you may have, at one time, felt at home; * modern style strollers which can accommodate from infants through toddlers; * umbrella and lightweight strollers for convenient trips to the local store; * jogging strollers to handle the fast pace of the day's routine run; and * all-terrain strollers for outdoor recreation and strolling across rough terrains.

Along with each of the many baby stroller types comes a broad selection of features. From wheel size to handlebar height there are many standard features to be considered. There are also may optional, and add-on, features that need to be considered, ranging from storage and snack trays to sunroofs.

Selecting the best baby stroller can be a daunting task. Many parents jump right into the task by gathering data for many of the available baby strollers; by looking at the different styles; and by immediately comparing the long list of features. Some parents even make detailed comparison tables to evaluate the plethora of information. It is certainly necessary to perform adequate research to make the best possible purchase decision; however, most parents do not take into account their lifestyle - overlooking the one critical factor which will significantly influence their long-term satisfaction with their baby stroller.

Before you find yourself getting caught up in the details of stroller features, take the time to think about your lifestyle, your activities, your personal style, and how the stroller needs to fit to your daily activities. Be sure to ask yourself questions such as:

* Will I be using the stroller for a lot of long trips or mostly local outings about town? * What about taking walks around the neighborhood, at the beach, or in the local park? * Do I want to continue (or start) physical activities such as running? * Will we be participating in outdoor recreation activities? * Which vehicles will be used for transporting the baby stroller?

Once you address these questions for yourself, you will be able to focus in on a true apples-to-apples comparison of baby strollers and their features and will be more able to select the best match for your lifestyle and your satisfaction.

How To Choose the Best Stroller For Your Baby

Are you struggling to make up your mind which stroller to buy for your new baby, or have you another addition to your family and are searching for a double stroller? There are strollers to suit every need. Singles, twin, lightweight, jogging, umbrella, the manufacturers have thought of everything.

There are a number of factors you should take into account when choosing. Some are safety features that you should look for with every stroller, others are additional features that may come with more expensive strollers.Extra features are nice, but that does not mean that cheaper strollers do not offer good value for your money. Comfort for your child or children and ease of use for you is of primary importance, decide what suits you and buy accordingly. Many parents are tempted to buy a status symbol, only to find that it is totally unsuitable for their needs.

Five point safety harness. The five point safety harness, going over the shoulder, around the waist and between the legs, is the best harness although the three point harness is also safe.

Check that the model has a locking mechanism to prevent the stroller from accidentally closing.

Balance The stroller should not tip easily and hanging a bag on the handles is dangerous!

Fully reclining seat. A newborn baby should have a fully reclining seat to support the neck. If you are buying for a toddler this is not so important, particularly if you are looking for a cheaper, light stroller.

Washable covers. Babies can be very messy!

Wheels. Bigger wheels make for a more cushioned trip, particularly if there are shock absorbers, but of course this can result in a heavier stroller. Some tires are now air-filled.

A large size basket is always desirable unless you only want a quick, light model.

Most mothers will probably buy two strollers as their children grow up. Young babies need the kind of comfort and protection from the elements that was found in the old fashioned prams once manoeuved around the park by nannies. Many modern strollers offer that degree of comfort, but they are often heavier models and as children grow they are harder to push. A three or four year old will be walking a lot of the time, but there are still times when they need a lift. Cheap, lightweight, umbrella strollers are the perfect solution for this age range. Some makers are producing more and more lightweight models, even double strollers, that can be used from birth through to 4 years and still be easy to push, so it is worth shopping around.

Finally you should be very careful if you decide to buy a used model. Choose a well known maker and as well as making sure that it works properly, ensure that the model has not been recalled. You can do this at www.cpsc.gov.
